Be Patient When Using A Natural Skin Care Product

February 25th, 2010

If you are considering switching to a natural skin care product, it is worth noting that good results can take some time. Remember that your skin will have to adjust to the new products you are using, and after being plastered with chemical based products all these years, it might be in a state of shock!

One of the common complaints about natural skin care is that people expect to see instant results. People will try the natural product but get immediately despondent when they don’t see positive results after 1 day. They then revert back to their trusty chemically enhanced products, feeling demoralised and annoyed that they have spent money on a natural skin care product that doesn’t work. Given chance, the natural skin care product would work far better than the chemical based one, but people don’t give it a fair trial. With this in mind, its about time people knew exactly how to go about their skincare routine so it stands the best chance of working well for them.

· Throw the chemical based products out – when you start using a new 100% natural product, you have to stop using other skin care items as this way you will be able to see if there is any improvement with the new item. Ideally, throw the old ones away so you don’t revert back to using them. Don’t use anything with parabens in it, as this can be really bad for your skin.

·Go natural every day – since it takes time for new skin care products to make a difference to your skin, it is essential that you use it every day to get the best results. Follow the instructions on the packaging or use it twice a day. This will definitely give it the best chance of working. It’s no good using it for a couple of days and then claiming it doesn’t work.

· Don’t give up – it is common knowledge that skin takes time to heal/change in appearance, yet people seem to lose faith in the fact their natural skin care product is not working instantly. We live in a fast-paced society that expects everything instantly, and when we don’t get things immediately as we want them, we become irritated and lose faith in the service and the product. You won’t lose faith with a natural skin care product providing you just give it a bit of time for it to work, and keep telling yourself that it is going to do some good.

Many people suffer with sensitive skin and this doesn’t just go away overnight, especially if you’re using a bad skin product which is making the problem worse. If you are one of the many who break out or itch after sun exposure or using a product, it is a good idea to switch to a natural skin care product and see if it makes a difference.

Do I have sensitive skin? Help! Tell me if I have sensitive skin

A tell-tale sign of sensitive skin is fine veins showing and broken capillaries. Fine pores are another sensitive skin attribute worth noting. When exposed to moderate changes in temperature, sensitive skin reddens easily, whether from cold or heat. If you’re prone to rashes and feel almost allergic to some skin care products, you’re not alone. If your skin manifests these signs, chances are high that you really have sensitive skin, and a natural skin care product could be the answer. The benefit here is that natural skin care products don’t contain any questionable ingredients. If you still need further advice, visit a dermatologist too.

1. Keep The Skin Hydrated

Sensitive skin is prone to dryness which can lead to increased sensitivity. Try drinking more water to hydrate the skin and use a moisturizer that is good. Remember, there’s lots of natural skin care products on the market these days that will be perfect for your dry skin.

2. Skin friendly food

Fruits, vegetables, and other water-rich foods are essential in correcting skin imbalances. You’ll find that vegetables and fruit are ideal skin hydration foods, and thus they should reduce the skin’s sensitivity. Its best avoiding alcohol though, as this can strip the skin of its moisture very quickly.

3. Free yourself from artificial colours

Things like fragrances get added to big name skin care products, and they do little to improve skin problems. Often, they even cause allergic reactions and increase your skin’s sensitivity, which is why a natural skin care product is always best.
