The harshest times of year on our skin are fall and winter. The skin needs extra care to keep it moisturized during this time of year. To help you keep your skin healthy and radiant through the holiday season, here are a few fall and winter organic skin care tips, to help you welcome the New Year feeling and looking good.
1. Drink Water Frequently
Drinking lots of water will help you to hydrate your skin. Take a bottle of water, juice or tea with you when you leave the house. Hot herbal tea can work miracles when it’s cold. Constant hydration will help your skin have a healthy glow even on winter’s harshest days.
2. Remove Dead Skin Cells with Regular Exfoliation
Remove dead skin cells with a body or facial scrub to keep your skin feeling fresh. Expensive products aren’t necessary. There are various exfoliation recipes you can use at home using items you find in your kitchen.
3. Use Organic Products to Moisturize
After exfoliating, be sure to moisturize your skin. Various organic skin moisturizers made from natural ingredients are available on the market. Free of harsh chemical preservatives, these organic products help protect rather than harm your skin.
4. Don’t Forget to Wear Sunscreen
Just because summer is over doesn’t mean that you should not apply sunscreen when going out. Apply a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15. There are many sunscreens containing organic ingredients available today. Some sunscreens also contain moisturizing agents. Protect your skin from the harsh environment with a good sunscreen.
5. Always Don Your Gloves
When she insisted you wear gloves in the winter, your mom knew what she was talking about. Don’t leave home in the cold without a pair of gloves. Select gloves that are made of organic material like hemp. Gloves keep your hands warm and dry as well as protect your skin from harsh elements.
6. Use an Organic Oil Bath
Organic bath oils both relax you and hydrate your skin. For instance, a lavendar bath nourishes the skin while relaxing the body and calming the senses. A few drops of the oil in your bath water will do wonders for you after a tiring day at the office (or, in case of the Christmas Season, the mall).
7. Protect your Lips with Organic Lip Balm
Lips chap easily in the fall and winter. Both the cold and the use of indoor heaters can cause lips to chap. Help stave off chapping by using an organic lip balm.. Always keep one in your pocket or purse. After all, you never know when you’ll need one. Anyone who has suffered from chapped lips can tell you that lip balm is something one should never be without!
